Parent Volunteer Association (PVA)

The purpose of this organization is to bring about close coordination and cooperation between the parents and teachers, as well as to foster the pursuit of excellence in academic and cultural endeavors among the students. All parents are members and, as such, are urged to attend as many scheduled meetings as possible.

The CKS PVA is governed by a board of parent volunteers. PVA-Sponsored events are funded and coordinated by the PVA to benefit the students, faculty, parents, and school. These events are educational, spiritual, social, and developmental.

Educational PVA-Sponsored Activities

Book Fair

Parents work with the media specialist to host one Book Fair during the year. The Book Fair offers books for students of all ages. All students have an opportunity to visit the Book Fair during school hours, before school, and after school. Parents are welcome to shop and volunteer to work a shift. A percentage of the proceeds benefits CKS.

Library Volunteers

Parents help our media specialist keep our library in tip top shape so that our children have a first class resource.

Lost and Found

PVA volunteers inventory items in the Lost and Found and distribute them to students.

Lunch Program

Parents assist in serving lunch to all students. It's a great way to interact with the students in a relaxed setting.

Middle School Council

Middle School parents coordinate fun, age-appropriate activities for the Middle School students. A picnic, dances, and field trips are a few of the activities offered for the Middle School.

Room Parents

The room parent coordinates volunteers both in the classroom and at special events, and acts as a liaison between the PVA and class parents.

Spiritual PVA-Sponsored Activities

Birthday Recognition

A committee focused on recognizing faculty-staff birthdays throughout the year. This PVA committee provides a special birthday recognition treat to all faculty and staff members on his or her birthday. This small gesture of appreciation is a way to show how much we value our teachers and staff for their dedication to our children.

Christmas Decorating

A committee focused on decorating the exterior areas of our campus during the holiday season.

Seventh grade parent volunteers plan and staff graduation events including a clap-out lunch and graduation reception to celebrate our 8th graders.

Guardian Angels

Our new Kindergarten, Pre-First, and First Grade students are paired with fifth and sixth grade “Guardian Angels” who offer assistance during the first two weeks of school. The "Guardian Angels" help at carpool, escort students to class, and just lend a hand when needed.

CKS Serves

PVA members help coordinate CKS service projects for the teachers, families and students throughout the school year, including CKS Day of Service in August.

Spiritual Life Committee

Each homeroom keeps a prayer journal in which the children write their own personal intentions. PVA members gather in the chapel once a month to offer up these beautiful prayers for our children. In addition, parent volunteers assist with planning school spiritual activities, participate in weekly prayers, plan a retreat for all CKS moms, and plan a Mass for all CKS dads.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation

Parents coordinate luncheons and other activities for our teachers to enjoy. A well-deserved treat for some extra special people!

Social PVA-Sponsored Activities

Baking Committee

PVA members support events with culinary delights. Items are prepared ahead and sent in to school for the event. The Baking Committee offers a great way for busy parents to volunteer.

Grandparents/Special Guests Day

CKS shines when the community welcomes grandparents and other special guests to the school for a very special day. Parent volunteers assist in welcoming these important visitors to CKS.

Grade Parent Parties

A host committee from each grade invites all the parents from that grade to gather in an informal setting to meet and get to know each other. A great way to put names with faces!
