Parent Volunteer Association (PVA)

The purpose of this organization is to bring about close coordination and cooperation between the parents and teachers, as well as to foster the pursuit of excellence in academic and cultural endeavors among the students. All parents are members and, as such, are urged to attend as many scheduled meetings as possible.

The CKS PVA is governed by a board of parent volunteers. PVA-Sponsored events are funded and coordinated by the PVA to benefit the students, faculty, parents, and school. These events are educational, spiritual, social, and developmental.

 

PVA CO-CHAIRS (throughout the school year) – Oversee PVA committees and work with administration to plan and execute all parent sponsored events

TREASURER (throughout the school year) – Create PVA Budget and keep an accurate accounting of the receipts and expenditures of all PVA committees

COMMUNICATION COORDINATOR (throughout the school year) – Responsible for all PVA communications and oversees Room Parent activities

 

ART CLAY HELPER (throughout the school year) - Work with art department to complete clay projects for all grades

ARTS COMMITTEE (throughout the school year) – Coordinate events for art enrichment

ATTIC COORDINATOR (throughout the school year) - Responsible for keeping attic organized and maintaining tablecloth inventory

AUCTION (March) - Help with one of the many committees on the auction, including acquisitions, children’s art, event planning, public relations, invitations, set up, décor and technology

BAKING (throughout the school year) - Volunteers bake for various events throughout the year

BIRTHDAY RECOGNITION CLUB - Provide a special treat for a teacher or staff member on their birthday.

BOX TOPS (throughout the school year) – Coordinate collections of Box Tops for school fundraiser

CHRISTMAS DECORATING (early DEC) - Decorate school campus for Christmas  

CKS SERVES (throughout the school year) -     Help coordinate CKS service events for families and students

COSTUME/SEWING COMMITTEE (throughout the school year) – Provide and maintain costumes for school events

FATHER/DAUGHTER DANCE (FEB) - Assist with a special night just for dads and their daughters

FIELD DAY (MAY) – Coordinate with PE teachers a fun day of field activities at the end of the school year

GRANDPARENTS/SPECIAL GUESTS DAY (Nov) - Welcome these VIPs to a special day on the CKS campus

HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL (OCT 31) –Organize and oversee Halloween related activities for students

HOSPITALITY (throughout the school year) - Help provide delicious treats and a friendly face at various CKS events including Welcome Back Coffee, Open House, Prospective Parent Coffee and Newcomer’s Coffee

JINGLE JOG (DEC) – Work with PE teachers to organize annual fun run around Duck Pond

LIBRARY (throughout the school year) – Coordinate and assist with library duties, including cataloging and shelving

LOST AND FOUND (throughout the school year) - Help sort and return lost labeled items to students

MOTHER/SON EVENT (OCT)- Organize and oversee with bocce ball event

NEW PARENT PARTY (AUG/SEPT) – Host a social event for new parents and administration at the start of the school year

PARENT GRADE PARTY COORDINATOR (Fall) – Find and coordinate hosts for grade level parties

PHOTODAY COORDINATOR (Fall) – Assist faculty with student and class pictures

SCHOOL STORE (throughout the school year) - Help sell CKS logo items at various CKS functions

SHOPPING WISE (throughout the school year)  – Promote programs to raise money through specific shopping vendors (Amazon, Publix, Kroger, etc)

SPIRITUAL LIFE (throughout the school year) - Assist with planning school spiritual activities, participate in monthly prayer groups, and plan a winter retreat for mothers and a mass for fathers in the spring

SPONSORSHIPS (throughout the school year)  – Recruit corporate and family sponsors and maintain relationships

SUNSHINE MATH (bi-monthly) - Grade math sheets for voluntary supplemental math program for grades 1-5

TEACHER/STAFF APPRECIATION (monthly) - Prepare and serve food at luncheons for our wonderful teachers and staff

TEAM GREEN (throughout the school year) - Assist with recycling projects and Earth Day activities

USED UNIFORM SALE (fall & spring) - Help sell gently worn summer and winter CKS uniforms at a fraction of retail

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL COUNCIL

MIDDLE SCHOOL CO-CHAIRS- Assist with age-appropriate fun activities for the middle school students including: clubs, speaker program, dances, cookout, field trips, and fundraising activities to benefit the middle school.

MOTHER DAUGHTER LUNCHEON (fall) – Organize the traditional August luncheon for MS girls and their moms

8th GRADE PHOTO SHOOT (fall) - Book photographer and coordinate with MS teachers the 8th graders photo shoot

FALL PICNIC – Organize the fall picnic (food and activities)

DANCES (throughout the year) – Plan the dances for 7th and 8th graders

CAREER DAY – Work with the guidance counselor to recruit parents to speak at this spring morning activity

NJHS LUNCHEON (spring) – Organize luncheon to honor NJHS members

SNACK SHACK (throughout the year) – Run the weekly snack shack to sell treats to MS while earning funds for the school

6th GRADE VARSITY LUNCH (spring) – Organize the traditional lunch in late spring, Varsity food truck comes to CKS

SCHOOL SUPPLIES (throughout the year) – Organize the online sale of school supplies, work with vendor and develop supply lists with teachers

8th GRADE GRADUATION (spring) – Organize the reception after graduation mass to honor the 8th graders

8th GRADE TSHIRT (winter) – Design and order the t shirt handed out to 8th graders during Catholic Schools week

The Archdiocesan Office of Child and Youth Protection oversee the implementation of the Safe Environment programs at schools and parishes.  Christ the King School ensures that parent volunteers are compliant with all Safe Environment requirements.
