Parent Volunteer Association
The purpose of the Parent Volunteer Association (PVA) is to bring about close coordination and cooperation between the parents and teachers, as well as to foster the pursuit of excellence in academic and cultural endeavors among the students. All parents are members and, as such, are urged to attend as many scheduled meetings as possible.
The CKS PVA is governed by a board of parent volunteers. PVA-Sponsored events are funded and coordinated by the PVA to benefit the students, faculty, parents, and school. These events are educational, spiritual, social, and developmental. |
Middle School Council
The Middle School Council is a committee under the PVA of Christ the King School. All middle school parents are members of the Middle School Council. The purpose of the Middle School Council is to act as the liaison between the faculty, parents and students. The goal is to provide social and academic events to enhance the Middle School experience.
The Middle School Council sponsors extra field trips as well as dances, cookouts, speakers and the Snack Shack. Middle School Council activities are funded by proceeds from the school supplies sale and the Snack Shack.

PVA Involvement
AUCTION/GALA (March) - Help with one of the many committees of the Auction/Gala including acquisitions, children’s art, event planning, public relations, invitations, set up, décor, and technology
BIRTHDAY RECOGNITION - Provide a special treat for a teacher or staff member on their birthday
BOOK FAIR (November) - Work with CKS Media Specialist to bring Book Fair to the CKS campus
CHRISTMAS DECORATING (early December) - Decorate school campus for Christmas
CKS SERVES (throughout the school year) - Help coordinate CKS service events for families and students
COMMUNITY PARTNER PROGRAM/SPONSORSHIPS (throughout the school year) - Recruit corporate and family sponsors and maintain relationships
COSTUME/SEWING COMMITTEE (throughout the school year) – Provide and maintain costumes for school events
FATHER/DAUGHTER DANCE (February) - Assist with a special night just for dads and their daughters
FIELD DAY (May) – Coordinate with PE teachers a fun day of field activities at the end of the school year
FUN RUN (November) - Organize and oversee annual back-to-school jog through Garden Hills neighborhood for CKS students and families
GRANDPARENTS/SPECIAL GUESTS DAY (November) - Welcome these VIPs to a special day on the CKS campus
HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL (October 31) – Organize and oversee Halloween related activities for students
HOSPITALITY (throughout the school year) - Help provide delicious treats and a friendly face at various CKS events including Welcome Back Coffee, Open House, Prospective Parent Coffee, and Newcomers' Coffee
JINGLE JOG (December) – Work with PE teachers to organize annual fun run around Duck Pond
LIBRARY (throughout the school year) – Coordinate and assist with library duties, including read-aloud opportunities and cultural diversity gallery walk displays.
LOST AND FOUND (throughout the school year) - Help sort and return lost labeled items to students
MOTHER/SON EVENT (October) - Organize and oversee our Mother/Son Bocce Ball event
NEW PARENT PARTY (August/September) – Host a social event for new parents and administration at the start of the school year
PARENT GRADE PARTY COORDINATOR (fall) – Find and coordinate hosts for grade level parties
SCHOOL STORE (throughout the school year) - Help sell CKS logo items at various CKS functions
SHOPPING WISE (throughout the school year) – Promote programs to raise money through specific shopping vendors (Amazon, Publix, etc.)
SPIRITUAL LIFE (throughout the school year) - Assist with planning school spiritual activities, participate in monthly prayer groups, and plan a winter retreat for mothers and a mass for fathers in the spring
TEACHER/STAFF APPRECIATION (monthly) - Prepare and serve food at luncheons for our wonderful teachers and staff
TEAM GREEN (throughout the school year) - Assist with recycling projects and Earth Day activities
USED UNIFORM SALE (fall & spring) - Help sell gently worn summer and winter CKS uniforms at a fraction of retail

Christ the King School’s Parent University provides parents opportunities to learn and grow together as a community. One of our many goals is to offer parents the opportunity to learn from each other and partner together as we tackle the many challenges our children face today.
Parent University provides resources and hosts events throughout the year on topics such as child development, digital citizenship, learning, and parenting from educational experts and special guest speakers. |
cks serves
CKS Serves was formed during the Year of Mercy to enrich our spiritual life through service opportunities based on the Corporal Works of Mercy and to encourage our students and their families to live out their faith through service to others. It was recognized by Today's Catholic Teacher as the most innovative program for total community involvement in 2017.
CKS Serves service projects are done after school or on the weekends and are designed for families to participate together. |
The Archdiocesan Office of Child and Youth Protection oversee the implementation of the Safe Environment programs at schools and parishes. Christ the King School ensures that parent volunteers are compliant with all Safe Environment requirements.
